Sports of several kinds are played across nations and with time huge amount of money, glamour, fame and media attention has become the integral part of Sports. As a topic one would study sports marketing. Sports finance and business, communication with the press and media and sports event staging. Earlier only post graduate programs were available in sports management. Many universities now have started giving recognition to conduct Diploma programs that can be taken after class 12th. There are institutes offering BBA, BA, or Bachelor’s in sports management after class 12th from any stream. Most of the institutes are offering Masters, or MBA or Post graduate Diploma programs in Sports management. A minimum Eligibility criterion is graduation with 50-55% marks in graduation. Some institutes may take entrance exam or institutes for short listing. Duration of the course will differ depending on the course. Diploma program is for 11 Months to 1 year, Bachelor’s course is for 3 years and Management for 2 years. Aspirants should have immense liking towards the sports and be committed to sports and profession. Motivate and inspire other candidates. One should have excellent business skills and communication skills and negotiating skills. Sports managers are applied in variety of organizational settings like college sports department, professional sports team, Sports marketing and management firms, sports communication and new media firms, corporate sponsorship and advertising firms, stadiums, sports federation and community recreation programs. Today, sports is not just confined to cricket, tennis, or hockey in India, but encloses various other international and domestic sports, such as football, golf, athletics, badminton, shooting, archery, and other games. With name, fame and glamour reaching every nook n corner of sport, requirement for professional sports management companies, too, has increased. So individuals who’ve always been fascinated and have that passion and obsession in sports and love to mingle business with pleasure, pursuing a career in sports management would be perfect.
